Nucs

Spring 5 frame nucleus colonies (1 frame pollen, 1 frame honey / nectar, 2-3 frames brood) will be available here at the farm starting in mid-May 2026 through early June. These will be made from my overwintered colonies with local mated marked 2026 queens. As per Virginia law, my apiary will be inspected by the state apiarist before the time of sale. 

I keep both Italian and Carniolan bees here on the farm. I work to incorporate VSH queens into my operation each year to improve my genetic stock. I follow IPM strategies and test for mites multiple times a year and treat when necessary to keep my numbers low! For the past 6 years, I have averaged less than a 10% overwinter loss. 

Medium nucs: $200 (includes a re-usable pronuc transport box)

Deep nucs: $230 (includes a re-usable pronuc transport box). Very limited number available.
